Interesting.  Sounds like CDMA is just another kludge.
How does GSM stack up technically compared to TDMA or CDMA?
I think GSM is digital but may be wrong.
Recently, I discovered my airtime plan gives me 28 cents a minute
airtime day and night across Canada, while roaming on other
Mobility Canada networks.  I think the free airtime in my plan
also follows me (30 minutes a month) although the flat rate
evenings and weekends do not apply outside my carrier's network.
Still a good deal as my evening and weekend airtime works fine on
an 800 mile stretch of highway.
Sounds like Lillian Tomblyn was not kidding when she said in the
character of Earnestine the phone company's equipment is so
advanced not even they can figure it out!
