| subject: | Mini-DIN 8 serial ports |
Hello Andy, we were saying !
AB> I've seen USB to Mini-DIN 8 serialadaptors for sale. Although
AB> these were probably developed to let people use
AB> their existing Mac serial port devices with Macs that are USB-only, I
AB> wouldn't be at all surprised to learn that one of those along with an
AB> off-the-shelf Mac printer cable would let a PC drive a Mac printer.
That was a very nice post, Andy. No M*c here. But I do use an
adapter from USB to DIN for my mouse on a Thinkpad. The mouse is USB
into the DIN on the Thinkpad. This way, I still have the two USB
ports open for other devices, a printer and a card reader. The best
of three worlds ! I have not tested if any other device, USB, could
be connected this way. Sorry, yes I did. I connected the USB printer
to that DIN socket and it did not work, I guess that it needs a +5v
current to work.
