In Oklahoma City, during the great gasohol craze a number of
years ago, a chain of Texaco stations started carrying gasohol that was
not made by Texaco, and the pumps were so marked. (I believe Texaco
was not making gasohol at that time.) Even though the pumps were marked
that they were not Texaco, and the stations would not accept Texaco
credit cards for the gasohol, Texaco cut them off. They were very
insistent that stations displaying the Texaco sign would sell only
Texaco products.
The chain switched over to Phillips 66 rather than discontinue
gasohol sales. (And, in the course of time, gasohol fell back out of
favor and is no longer available at most stations of any brand.)
Incidentally, a lot of brand-name gasoline is delivered in this
area, and I believe in most areas, by independent tank truck companies
whose trucks are marked only with the name of the trucking company.
