zero is even. we have enough of *one* c.s. old professor, mr. Dancea, who
will argue till the end of the world that zero is neither odd nor even, but
that breaks all uniformity in the integer math, which should be perfect. if
we call the integers Z, and define even numbers as 2Z, well, 0 is of them. it
wouldn't make much sense to say the opposite, as it's much more often that we
need even numbers to include the 0 than not.
