Hi David,
Being a former W.Bureau officer, I would suggest that you just get 
yourself a cheap digital thermometer to put your mind at rest - when I 
tried one of the [cool-something?] software checkers, although I knew it 
wasn't intended for the chopset, it indicated my CPU temp was 238 
drgrees C - [Celsius/Centigrade]! bIOS still said only 58C [136F].  Many 
CPU temp-initial alarms can be set to warn as high as 90C = 194F!

But I can see why you're worried about the 45F difference.  Maybe you 
need one of those water-cooled systems?
First get a thermometer - even the cheapest ones will be pretty accurate 
- within 1F probably at the outside.

On the NW coast of this Island Continent, 40 years ago we regularly 
recorded temperatures out in full sun of over 200F.
