I'm working since years with Sony Mavica (now the Sony Mavica MVC CD-500 
- 5,1 MP ).
No fuss, no worries and photo of excellent quality. Put the CD in the PC 
and copy the files to your HD. And meanwile you have also a rock safe 
backup.

The camera has an USB connection too, but I didn't bother to look after 
it. PMview is an excellent companion, btw.
