PE> Ok, I've tried it out and it works.

  Why am I surprised?

PE> Of course it takes an extra day for f711x934.txt to drop the
 PE> "-- archived --" bit, but that's fine.

It has to go through the entire files list, but once it finds Special
Requests it's pretty quick to find the "-- archived --". If you know
Special Requests is always going to be up the back, you could do an
fseek() to move the file pointer closer.

PE> And here's TMLJOIN.TXT hopefully back to what it was before,
 PE> more or less...

PE> file in case of aborted connect. To delete a file from
PE> SPECIALR, just send it again, as a zero-length file. It should
 PE> get deleted automatically overnight.

MUCH better! Just one action. Sending a zero-length file has a
certain panache, but why do you need the file? The TIC itself should
be enough.

Bob
