NB>>> A few inches isn't too bad to shovel out.... and things look so
NB>>> much prettier... :)
RH>> Agreed, I'd rather look at an inch or snow that will soon
RH>> disappear than many inches that need shovelling.
NB>> Once they've been shovelled, I don't mind looking at more
NB>> inches, even if they stick around... In fact, I'd like them
NB>> to stay, protect the plants from the winter, and look pretty... :)
RH> While it looks pretty, it's nice. OTOH, dirty snow isn't so great to
RH> look at, and the longer it stays around, the dirtier it gets,
RH> especially in cities.
That's what the small dustings of snow are for, to clean things up... :)
NB>>> Makes sense... the bread machine won't put the strain on you,
NB>>> either... Hope you enjoy the quilt retreat, too... :)
RH>> I did, and got a fair amount accomplished, tho, as always, not
RH>> as much as I wanted to. (G)
NB>> One always tends to plan more than there could possibly been
NB>> time for for such occasions... wouldn't want to run out of
NB>> things to do, after all... ;)
RH> Thought I was going to--on the first day I realised I'd not cut enough
RH> of the white fabric I was using. I had enough other things to keep me
RH> busy tho, and when I went home, I found the rest of the white. Brought
RH> it in the next day & finished cutting what was needed. I'm going to
RH> try to get the top finished over the next few weeks, then go back to
RH> QoV projects.
That worked out ok after all, then... :)
RH>> Got to have a piece of a yummy home made cheesecake that the
RH>> husband of one of the other ladies made. I went out for lunch
RH>> with the group one day but brought my own otherwise & Steve
RH>> brought me supper a couple of times.
NB>> So you were able to keep a good control of what you were having...
NB>> good thinking... :)
RH> Much better for me overall. I don't like working with dirty hands
RH> (from munching) so will refrain from the mindless munchies when
RH> concentrating on a project.
Also very good thinking... :)
RH>> The arm held up for several sessions of using
RH>> the rotary cutter--usually spaced those between times
RH>> of sewing so as not to put too much of a strain on it.
NB>> Sounds like you planned that out well, too, then... :)
RH> Had to, I knew I'd be in a world of hurt if I didn't.
True, indeed.... Was switching between the two different actions
sufficient to keep things happy...? Or did you also need to take breaks
from both....?
RH>>>> And they can slice it for you, faster than you can slice it
RH>>>> yourself.
NB>>>> There is that.. :)
RH>>> Done almost before you finish asking for it to be sliced. (G)
NB>>> ALmost. :) Of course the machine slices it all at once, not
NB>>> one slice at a time... :)
RH>> Definately faster, but not worth investing in one for home use. We
RH>> have a bread slicing guide; it does a credible job of making sure the
RH>> slices are uniform but we still have to do the work of slicing it.
NB>> For home use, one doesn't have nearly the volume that the bakery would
NB>> have... I'm sure those machines don't come cheaply, either... :)
RH> Undoubtedly not cheap. Other point is, where would we store it? (G)
That, too... :)
