PE> If you're not interested in getting QWK2PKT debugged,

RS> You cant debug it anyway, the blemish doesnt happen on your system.

PE> Quite probably,

Aint no 'quite probably' about it, if you use the single line that
contains the QWK2PKT invokation on it, with the pair of MSGs, one
which exhibits the fault on my system and one which does not, and
both PKTs dont exhibit the fault, we have excellent evidence that
its vastly more likely that its some difference in the environment
thats producing the different result on your system than mine.

PE> although I didn't run exactly what you sent me,
PE> because I don't have exactly what you used (tpoint
PE> directories etc), so I haven't performed the exact test.

Pity that a bit of difference on that directory structure is
MOST unlikely to produce that PARTICULAR change in the PKT that
was seen. And that its quite trivial to recreate that directory
structure on your system to make quite sure that it isnt that
if you really do want to cover the most unlikelys that thoroughly.

In fact it makes considerably more sense for me to just run that
single line extracted from the SENDMAIL.BAT on my system within a single
directory and check that that pair of MSGs still produces one dud PKT.
Which I did and it still does. So it was as unlikely a possibility as
the other one on the particular QKW2PKT.EXE actually used.

PE> You haven't performed the exact test I wanted
PE> you to perform before claiming a QWK2PKT bug.

Yep, I've been debugging software since before the time
you were in nappys, I know whats involved thanks. I dont
need you to tell me how you test that sort of situation.

PE> Your problem.

Aint no problem for me, it aint exactly the first time some
kid has got some silly ideas about the only acceptible way to
test a bug. I just write that off to yet another example of kids
thinking they know everything when they very obviously dont.

PE> fine, silent deletion next time you send me a PKT with that glitch.

RS> Anyone ever told you that you are a complete fuckwit ?

PE> Not as many as have told you exactly the same thing.

Odd, could have sworn that heaps have told you just that on your
wild proclamations about software, bug testing, etc etc etc in
here alone, and not one has actually said that to me on that.

PE> Crikey, you get a program for free, support far better than
PE> you get from Microsoft et al when something goes wrong, and
PE> you're not even willing to do the very basic step of isolating
PE> out qwk2pkt to prove that it indeed is the thing with the problem.

Yeah, well, I happen to have been involved in debugging software since well
before you were even born boy. I might just know a bit about it by now.

I also managed to notice the hole in your argument
on the the hang with ZIPPING up your hard drive too.

PE> Your loss, Rod. It doesn't worry me one iota if I delete
PE> any out-of-spec packets left over because you've been warned
PE> about a problem and don't care enough about it to fix it.

You really are a complete and utter fuckwit if you cant even grasp
that I put considerable effort into looking at why that bad PKT was
produced, producing a clear pair of datafiles, one of which produced
the problem and one which did not. AND have the mental horsepower to
notice that if that pair dont exhibit the problem on your system, you
have a problem debugging that wart.

And if you seriously think that silent deletion of PKTs in that situation
is anything remotely like a reliable mail system, you have an even more
serious problem with dog shit between the ears than I thought.

PE> I know I'd be VERY eager to fix the problem if
PE> Dave told me I was sending him out-of-spec packets.

I'm ALSO eager to fix the problem you complete fuckwit. Your lunatic ideas
on how to go about fixing the problem are another matter entirely tho.

And then there's the tiny matter that he DOESNT just silently
delete any PKT from your system which has the slightest blemish
too. AND he doesnt run mindlessly anal software that chucks a
wobbly about trivial blemishes either. Neither does the Bulldog.

Corse the authors of the software they run may just have more
of an idea about what robust software is about than you do too.
