Walking the dog this morning saw a discarded CRT type 19 inch monitor. Seeing all sorts of brand new electronics equipment boxing in the ajoining dumpster I figured it just might be there as a result of upgrade and working. Having a bad back and the thing being nearly a block away there it sat until afternoon when I decided to go for it. Got it home and it works fine :-) Now I've GOT to install that other small 340 Meg Seagate into the Pentium, partition to save my Knoppix Linux settings while operating Linux from the CD and ramdrive. Guess I'll slap that Turtle Beach sound card in at the same time removing the less than worthless software sound card - modem POS. I've now got three working SVGA, 2 of them 19 inch with one small one and a VGA. ALL FREE except the VGA I purchased used LONG ago. Until I upgrade it's going to be one weird system. 433 Celeron with 256 Meg of RAM and 340 Meg hard drive running Windows 3.1 and Linux Some time next week I think and when I yank the 486 I believe I'll take out that motherboard NiCad as well and solder in some pigtails to move the battery off board. I'm still going to keep the 486 going and it'll be restored to it's original configuration possibly with one of those ISA networking cards Jim H. sent along to me. I just have to remember to limit my time in doing this stuff so not as to overdo. Perhaps a couple of weeks to get this stuff in some semblance of order. The hard drive is dead easy to install in the H.P. and it's a big nothing to hook up the external hardware modem. --- MultiMail/PBellDOS v0.42* Origin: BBS Networks {at} www.bbsnets.com 808-839-6036 (1:10/345) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 10/345 106/1 2000 633/267 |
