Subject: hello for 1998.
Hi Warren,
I have lots of good news. I have recently purchased a new computer from
Richard Lampert in Austin, Texas. I am learning Windows 95 on my own with
the help of some tutorials on tape, braille, and computer disks that I have
purchased over the last few months. On my system I have the following
items:
An Open Book Unbound software with reconditioned HP 3p scanner version 3.5.
Jaws for Dos version 2.31
Jaws for Windows version 3.0.83
Duxbury Braille Translator for DOS
internal Doubletalk speech synthesizer
Soundblaster 16 sound card to use with Text Assist
56k external modem
color monitor for sighted folks
a set of stereo speakers
and many more software that comes with the system such as Internet
Explorer.
I have also purchased Microsoft Office 97 as well. I am looking at getting
tutorials to help me learn the
By the way this computer have 32mb of RAM, 2gb hard drive, cdrom and 104
keyboard.
I also purchased Microsoft Office 97 at a real good deal for under $70.00.
My goal is to learn Microsoft Office 97 as to the best of my ability as
well. My goal for the future is to save enough money to get a better
printer than what I have. Currently I am using Versapoint 20 which is in
today's standard to slow for braille production. I hope to get a much
faster printer that prints both sides of the page. Another goal is to
obtain a braille display for home use to check the braille output before it
hits the paper for final production. I need to get on the ball and finish
my Braille Proofreading course so that I can meet these goals. I am still
working for U.S. Long Distance. I use the Alva Braille display for work as
well.
Look forward to hearing from you soon.
