I found out that the author of TAME (that great DOS timeslicing app)
is still around (and he lives in the same city I do, go figure!).  I
installed the Win32 version of TAME and now LORD is at 9-13% and TIDE
is at 1% usage.   So, no begging door authors... ;)

There's also a DOS version for non-Windows OSes (Patrick, you reading
this?!).

It's $20 to register and available at http://www.tamedos.com - he
takes Paypal, which is good.

So, needless to say, I'm quite happy.  The system is working
wonderfully now!
