You'll have to look at the battery to see the numbers on it.  Most common
one is the 12V7AH, although some of the higher rated ones use the 12V8AH. 
Several of the dead APC brands I have here use two 12V7AH or a single
12V14AH.

Most of the newer APC units have a convenient trapdoor on the bottom for
battery access and removal, hope yours is one of those.  Old units like I
have take almost an hour to get to the battery, and it is pretty dangerous
working around the circuit boards before you can get to the battery to
disconnect the power leads.  

If your model requires disassembly, aim for the battery leads FIRST.  Until
they are disconnected, all circuits may be live!  When replacing the
battery, the power leads are the LAST item to be connected, after which you
can't touch anything but the case and frame.
