It has been my experience that "most" folks want to help and get
involved but don't have the time or know how.  Part of what we do is to
create opportunities which will afford those who are "busy" to get
involved as well as educate our citizens how to get involved.  I must
admit that sometimes I do get a bit frustrated with those (managers in
the system) who just tolerate the program with no active acknowledgement
of its existence or achievements.  I now put out a monthly report of the
number of active volunteers each month, the number of volunteer hours
expended and the amount of $$ it would have cost the dept. at time and
one half if their tasks would have had to been done by a sworn officer.
It should be interesting to see the responses from that...heheheh..
