The problem is there are a lot of .exe BIOS upgrades around that self
extract ONLY when run under windoze. The fool motherboard makers don't
understand everybody doesn't have nor should they need windoze just to
extract the bin file from the archive. Others you can extract using
unzip even though in .exe format. Some are even smart enough to put them
in zip files in the first place. ;-)
Some motherboards don't require a boot disk. With them, all that's
required is the .bin file on a floppy. The flash utility is in the
motherboard BIOS, so you don't even need to "boot" to flash.
Watch out. A lot of new BIOS break more than they fix. Don't flash
unless YOU have good reason.
