Hi Ed,

My knid of car (almost), I have a '57 Imperial.
 > Problem: Engine dies while running.
Sounds like a problem I had.

Sounds VERY familiar..... Another question... Does it re-start right off, or
take a bit of cranking?

All these sound reasonable.

Have you tried connecting a fuel pressure meter and watching that? My
Imperial had a very similar problem and it turned out to be a weak fuel pump.
I added a electric "boost" pump back near the tank and fixed my problem and
also prevented any future "vapor lock" problems from happening. I used a
small (~ 2"x2"), cheap (~ $20) one and put it in the line in the rear axle
"cutout" area. Not easy to spot there and I am not going for show points
anyway.
 > Oh, car has 47,000 original documented miles on it.
Sounds like a good find. My '57 had 30,000 miles on it. It was really owned
by a little old lady from near Pasadena :)

I would look at the fuel pressure to make sure you do not have a pump
oblem.
 > Thank you.
You're welcome and good luck.
