I have had a male betta for about 4-5 years now in a 5.5 gallon tank. Lately
he has appeared a bit under the weather - a bit bloated around the belly,
lethargic, and scales appear to be sticking out.  Looking about the web I
see he could be old, dropsy, internal parasites. The standard treatment is I
believe Myacin 2.  Speaking to my LFS, she says there is some disagreement
on its effectiveness and recommended Kanacyn.  (Ingredients: Kanamycin
Sulfate and Sodium Chloride Activity) I bought some and have treated.  Dose:
approx 75 mg per 5 gallon.  Now given the age of the fish, it may not be
effective but will let the group know what happens.
