Hi,
From the site of PC Week:
Coming attractions from Corel
Corel Corp.'s WordPerfect Suite 8, which the company plans to ship in
the second quarter of the year, will have a redesigned interface,
improved help and the ability to take advantage of Intel Corp.'s MMX
microprocessors.
In taking a quick look at a preview version of the suite, PC Week Labs
found performance seemed snappier and the interface was less
cluttered.
Dropping Office from the Professional version's name, Corel will offer
two versions of the suite: WordPerfect Suite 8, Standard and
WordPerfect Suite 8, Professional; the latter will include Corel's
Paradox 8 database.
A new PIM (personal information manager), CorelCentral, will link
users to Internet sites from the PIM's address book. In addition,
users will be able to publish their calendars and reports to the Web
using Corel's Barista technology.
The Professional version will include Netscape Communications Corp.'s
Communicator, which will work with CorelCentral so users can send and
receive E-mail via the Internet. The PIM will automatically generate
links between calendar items and address book entries.
Corel officials said other improvements will include better tools for
creating tables, a shadow cursor that follows the movement of the
mouse and enhanced version control. A new drawing layer, including new
drawing tools, will bring much improved graphics capabilities to the
word processor, officials said.
Corel also plans to include its Web.SiteBuilder application in the
suite. Web.SiteBuilder lets users quickly create Web pages by choosing
from libraries of prebuilt components. In addition, the application
will offer Web site management tools for organizing a Web site before
and after publishing the site to the Internet.
