Yep is it a CLASS 1 FAX modem AFAIK  type AT+FLASS=? it should report 0,1
it it reports 2 also then you have a fax class 2 modems also.

Perhaps you need the correct GPFAX. there are many versions out there.
Make sure it suports only Fax CLASS 1 (It that is what your fax is)
