I call some bbs's, and download at full clapper cps rates for anything up to
an hour at a time and have no problems. Yet on a bad day when I call a
particular bbs, I might get several errors over the whole download. On the
same line, it tends to drop out more often, but it sometimes stays on with
errors.
And yes I'm sure I have EC turned on, I've tried it turned off once, sheez it
was bad. IMO, EC *improves* the situation, but does not always completely
eliminate errors.

RS> If line errors are getting past the modems EC you have a problem
 RS> somewhere.

I wish I knew where, I have also noticed this with my older system that I
used to use, a different pc, modem altogether. Come to think of it, it doesn't
happen all that often nowadays, it pauses for a while and drops carrier, but
it sometimes holds on with crc errors. I notice the pauses while using the
menus as well, not just on downloads.
If I call late at night (er, morning), it tends to be better, but at peak
hour (evening) it's a mess.
