Wayne, try an FDISK replacement called AEFDISK. Using it, I was able to
get an older drive recognized (delete/remake MBR) after utilities like
"Zap" and "Wipe" and "Debug" failed to
recognize it. It's shareware, but
only a couple of quite esoteric functions (batch setups, etc.) are
disabled. It should come up quickly in Google, but, if it doesn't, I
could email you a copy (it's tiny, and puts FDISK to shame). For my last
few setups, it's been my partition table tool of choice.

I just finished reading that the BIOS can't see the drive. Try entering
the drive parameters manually, rather than using auto-detect (it may be
worth trying a second time, after clearing CMOS, if it didn't work the
first time).
