I 'discovered' surface mount after a long hiatus from reading
about electronics some years ago. It was quite interesting that
they had 'projects' to build circuits on business cards and
draw the circuit board using a pencil. Amazing. 

While it's true I'm not up to speed (at all) regarding
electronics circuits there remain many things that need fixing
that do not involve electronics. :-)
