subject: Win98FE Harddrivicide?

-> WC>-> Disaster struck when he went to install Win98FE from an
OEM disc. It
-> WC>-> appears that the Linux FDISKed the HDD to full 65GB,

-> WC>Nope, it wrapped the drive overwriting the MBR and is no longer
-> WC>detectable by the Promise I/O card or by Linux fdisk.
-> WC>It WAS the OEM Windows software that trashed the drive.

-> Flash the MBR and re-partition.

-> FDISK /MBR
-> Then re-partition. Install of LINUX will probably do this for you but
-> WIN is nasty and may have to manually do it to return the HDD to use.

Thanks, tried both.
The original release Win 98 destroyed the drive apparently beyond
repair.
Never saw a recoverable drive Linux couldn't see.
This drive isn't seen by Linux.
