Recoding (plus scaling) MPEG2 to MPEG4 video on a K6-2 450 MHz, which was a twelve hour job for a two hour movie. That kind of scripted video processing was quite doable. Anything interactive was mostly out of the question, at least as far as Linux programs went. RJT> This would be CPU-intensive, but just burning a DVD? I dunno why RJT> that should be... It's not that CPU intensive as far as I can tell. 3-5% CPU load on this 1.3GHz system. Systems feels very slow due to the hard drive having a lot to do.
