OK, I would have thought that InJoy would have overridden the modem. I
did notice a quirk with InJoy and my modem. I tried switching FCS
checking off, and things went awry. I re-enabled it, and things were
back to normal.

Sorry, V.34+ is the highest my ISP has locally. They use X2 as well. I
will be switching ISPs next month, I believe. I can get 56K service
(currently K56Flex) for no additional cost, unlike my current ISP, who
wants $5 more a month. In addition, if I subscribe for a longer term, I
can be paying $5 a month less for that faster service!
