I also found I needed to use the -E (capital E) option to tell
telnet to turn off its escape character which by default is
control right square bracket in order to upload.
This seems to help a lot but i suppose up or downloads can fail
from other reasons too, such as serious network delays on
internet.
For a while I thought my provider's site was jinxed, but -8 and
-E seem to have solved upload problems from my site to a number
of other sites.
Maybe this is the chromium plated bullet, not a real silver
bullet!
And in the ninties instead of a bullet it shold maybe be called
the hmmn ... Silver Streak but that was a movie years ago.
