Subject: chlorophyll & photosynthesis
A few days ago I posted a message regarding Dolomite, Magnesium
and Chorophyll in which I stated that magensium, at the centre of
the chlorpohyll molecule, was effective in garnering energy from
sunlight. I got that from a book "Periodic Kingdom" by
P.W.Atkins. Page 16.
On page 133 he gets around to saying "In the photosynthetic
process, the wellspring of useable energy on earth, it is
manganese that deploys the elctrons that the sun's energy
releases ..."
I need someone who is, or has access to a botanical chemist, to
clarify this for me. Is it Magnesium or Manganese that I revere?
Any takers?
Thanks for any hints, suggestions or tips.
