For what it may be worth to some, here is my experience: I have been
following with interest the recent thread about the loss of speed
and/or jerkiness some are experiencing. I realized my system was
having the same problems. But it seemed worse than I remembered when I
first moved to 2.8 (I had accepted some performance loss in exchange
for the increased line length in 2.8--something I really need).
The only change I had made was installing Microsoft Internet Explorer
4.0, so I decided to uninstall it to see if it made a difference. WOW!
(to put it mildly). All the speed is back, and there is no jerkiness
at all, even in the dialog boxes for editfile, etc., where it had been
most noticeable.
Once again, the "problem" was not with Tse at all. (How could I ever
have doubted?)
This works for me . . . your mileage may vary.
