Perhaps CTS+RTS not actually in my cable could do it? I was getting
exactly the same problem this morning, MR flashing away. I have put in a
new cable ready for your next call. I've forgotten how to read the old
cable, even if I do open it up. Let's see how this goes first.
PE>> and I can replace COM.SYS with SIO.SYS.

March 2.1 beta. BFN.
P.S. I opened up my old cable and there are heaps of wires connected. One
of them is very likely to be CTS/RTS. So assuming it still doesn't work,
here is my MODE command:
mode com1:19200,n,8,1,idsr=off,odsr=off,octs=on,rts=on,dtr=off,to=on
Time for a few brainwaves methinks. Actually, I can tell you the pinouts
on my old cable. 1-8 + 20.
Another symptom is that on local calls (with Paul Markham) I am getting
lots of errors, even with V42bis connection. Zmodem reports the errors.
Can't remember if Paul said they were CRCs or not though. The MR light
never flashes though. It did at one stage though (before I took my modem in
for repairing). So I've had my modem fixed twice, so it can't be that.
I've asked Telecom to check my line. You can connect with other V32bis
V42bis people in Sydney so that rules out a problem your end. I can talk at
much higher speeds locally, and although I do get problems, it could be
Paul M's problem, because he hasn't had his Spirit upgraded. Anyway, it
means I am feeding data to the modem fast enough so it isn't OS/2 (anyhow,
I am not running anything else, and I was running Binkley and Maximus in
the foreground anyway). THINK ROD, THINK! BTW, as well as the MR light
flashing, I noticed the CTS light was also flashing. Not sure either way if
that used to happen. BFN.
Paul
