Hello, Charles. I've been listening about - - -=> CHARLES ANGELICH wrote to WAYNE CHIRNSIDE <=- ->> I finally got fed up with the burner I have now and went ->> out and bought one of those 'double layer' DVD RW burners ->> that also does CDRs and CDRWs. ->> Won't work here. If I find one of that brand for a good price, I'll be extra careful before making the plunge myself. Also wondering - Did the documentation give a "Help Line" phone number, and did you call that about the 'DMI pooling data' message? Did you check for your system's meeting the drive mfgr's stated 'system requirements?' I checked Plextor website for specs for their double layer 16X drive Model PX-716A, and it calls for burst R/W of 66MB/sec Ultra DMA Mode 4. (I see this is a jump up from their previous Model Px-712A single layer 12X model, which only called for burst R/W of 33 MB/sec.) Also, for some reason unknown to me, their sheet for PX-716A calls for "Pentium 4 1.4GHz or equivalent (minimum)." I suspect this info is on the trail to the problem you had. - - - JimH. ... "Bother!" said Pooh, as he realized his entire 'puter system is obsolete. --- MultiMail/MS-DOS v0.32* Origin: Try Our Web Based QWK: DOCSPLACE.ORG (1:123/140) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 123/140 500 106/2000 633/267 |
