JY> I apologize if this is a Frequently Asked Question but is there a

My #1 tip is USE WinFOSSIL (1.11 or 1.12 rev 4). You'll probably have no
trouble finding version 1.11 around, and the best place to get the REAL
1.12 rev 4 (because all 1.12 versions have the same original filename) is
www.woodruff-software.com.
And I don't really remember needing any special settings in my AUTOEXEC.BAT
and CONFIG.SYS. I did optimize my batch files a little, but that is not
absolutely neccesary. Actually Dos Max runs pretty nicely under Win95 without
any serious tinkering. If you use a front-end mailer, DO NOT use the Win32
version of Max (MaxN), as Win95 has a bug that prevents your mailer, even
if win32 as well, from passing a hot COM-port to Maximus thus causing a
carrier drop.
Another advice is to replace your DOS-utilities with corresponding Win32
versions, or locating a similar program that has a Win32 binary.
