EA=> Strong black bungee cords were also suggested.
Just read this line and that suggestion just kinda jumped out at me as
being "potentially" (note the quotes... they mean I don't "really" know
what I'm talking about here, it's just a hunch) dangerous.
They certainly WOULD give the motor an UMA (Upward Moving Assist) but
they would be stretched to their maximum when the motor was down... so
that when you released the motor-mount lock, in preparation to lift the
outboard, it would literally FLY up at you! Since you'd already be
hanging over the transom or whatever at this point the motor could
SLAM(!) into your face.
The pulley idea (I have no idea what you and Lee have been referring to)
seems a better plan since you'd have to pull on something before
anything else would happen. Perhaps a couple of small blocks - one on
the motor bracket and the other on your transom - with a reasonable
purchase and the bitter end tied around a cleat beside the boat-mounted
block... then you'd just have to uncleat the line and pull!... just
thinking about a miniature rig/setup like you have for your mainsheet
for example.
Oh well - I've babbled on enough... like I said when I first pointed out
those quotes: it means I really don't know what I'm talking about!
