I do the same thing, i.e reading the mail at home & at work, and 
I do not have a problem fitting 2 packets of 600 messages each on 
a 1.44, and including all my REP packets to date. Granted, I'm 
not as prolific as some, and will have to do some housekeeping at 
some stage in the next couple of months.

A cache also helps somewhat as well, as all the major 
decompression work is done in the cache, and the reader is kept 
on both hard drives.

Is this a similar setup to what you have ??
