subject: New to BT from FD

GK> Hello all!

KW> Stop calling me All! :)

Hello Kurt!

And All others! :-)

KW> Good choice - the mailer is running (and taking
KW> resources) 24 hours a day, you want to have the lowest
KW> draw on your system so you can use it, too. I ran BT-
KW> DOS for a time while I switched my software over to
KW> OS/2, and was amazed at the zippiness of my system when
 KW> I had Binkley-2 running instead.

Sounds good.

KW> Welcome to the world of static mailers. In my case, I
KW> don't think I ever got FD to route correctly. Once I
KW> switched to Binkley, and allowed Squish to perform
KW> routing, things worked well. (With an Arcmailattach
KW> mailer like FD, it felt "wrong" having both programs be
KW> able to route, then telling one program not to...)

Never did understand the need for routing in Squish - now I do. Hmmmm.
Shouldn't be too tough to write it in.

KW> BT is JUST a mailer. All routing is handled by your
KW> packer, in my case, Squish.
KW> There is no Binkley equivalent to route.fd. The good
KW> news is that you're probably quite familiar with your
KW> packer, so adding routing shouldn't be too much of a
 KW> chore.

Starting to understand....

KW> I never looked back from dumping FD - I felt like the
KW> freeware wold was being corralled into the shareware
KW> version - any time I had any question about 2.02nc, the
KW> response would be "You should upgrade to (and register)
 KW> 2.12 - it's so much cooler!"

Yes, I registered FD($50) and when I did that, people started telling me
how much cooler the commercial version (another $99) was.

KW> Once MAJOR plus for Binkley- the people in this echo
KW> really define the term USER-SUPPORTED software - the
KW> people here are very helpful, and VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE in
KW> the software - some of the people here have taken the
KW> source code and released their own revisions!

KW> I can't think of one problem I've posted about in this
KW> echo that I haven't gotten an answer QUICKLY here.

So far so good.

Thanks!

GK
