MF>Hello Everyone,
MF>I've been pretty busy here and haven't had the time to monitor the
MF>net much. I need to purchase a new hand-held scanner for my mother,
MF>but I haven't been keeping up with the latest offerings since the
MF>PRO-43 days. I'm looking for advice on what current Radio Shack
MF>hand-held scanners are made by GRE, and which are triple-conversion.
MF>I would like this scanner to have about 100 channels, at least 5
MF>banks, and cover 800 Mhz. Any recommendations pro or con are
MF>welcome.
Mike, the handheld that I reccomend is not a RS/GRE, but the RELM HS-
200. The radio has 200 channels, 10 banks, 10 priorities, covers all of
the bands that you seem to be interested in, and best of all, at least
from my perspective has PL and DPL built in. I've had mine for about a
month and I can't tell you how happy I am with it. Great sensitivity,
great selectivity, and the PL/DPL feature works great. Price is
reasonable too, I got mine for $249.00.
