Oh. I thought that the original query was about adding limestone
to acidic soils. And I was just wondering, anyway.
How do plants grow in the limestone sands of Perth Western
Australia, then. And isn't Paris named for the carbonates and
sulfates of calcium that abound where the Grand river trickles
into the might Nith? How do you grow plants on those cliffs above
town?

I hand-crush the shells and drop them in the vermicomposter. They
show up as flakes in the soil. I figure that they are slow-release
de-acidifying constituents.
