subject: Laser Toner Refill

Hello, ALL.

Back almost two years ago, we had a thread going here about refilling
laser printer cartridges with toner. I reported having good results
with that, for a reasonable cost.

I now finally have an update. That first toner refill lasted me a full
two years, and the thing finally started printing too light about a
month ago. I checked at Office Depot for cost of a new or refurb toner
cartridge and found cost in the $80-$90 range. Of course, a more
economical solution was needed. Back to Ebay. I looked over the sellers
there, and picked one with very high positive feedback. Since my son has
the same printer and the same problem, I got a set of 2 refill kits for
a total of just over $17, including shipping. So, for about $8.50, the
little old (and slow) HP LJ4L is printing almost like new again.

This printer has obviously had a hard life - dirty and stains all over
the exterior - been rode hard and put away wet, but takes a licking
and keeps on ticking. Looks like I'm good for maybe another 2 years
now, and I plan to refill that toner until the cartridge itself finally
wears out or dies.

FWIW, the refill qty is said to be good for 3000 copies at 5% ink
coverage, so the toner refill cost is well under a half cent per
copy.
