 Well am not fimilar with the LINUX program but the Western Digital
program is like a Vulcan Mind Probe. It can see things that Operating
systems can't. It can communicate directly with the Hard Drive
electronics. In fact part of the other nice programs on the
Diag Disk are a Quick and Deep probe of the hard drive to check for
problems.  

 But I highly doubt that will be necessary.
