-> Found this out the hard way trying to recover a trashed hard
-> drive for my oldest son's fiance. The HP OEM CD basically wiped
-> the drive before I realized what it was doing and she lost a
-> book she had been writing and my son lost 100's of original
-> music files in the process. Now I'm back to the "dumb old-guy"
-> status who is no longer asked for advice/assistance.
I wonder if one could pull the Win98 folder/Cabs off one of those
"Tweeked" CD's and run the setup within the win98 folder unstead of the
auto Run routine HP set up? That way bypassing the system checks for ID
codes and the fully automated fdisk/format install.
HP is a pretty clever group[ I am sure they have something as simple as
that covered.
-> To be honest - I almost prefer it this way. ;-)
That at times does have advantages. NOW if you could just turn it on and
off to fit the situation. :-)
