Another method of identification was that used by the C'wealth
bank for their teletext banking product.
 
The gave each user a book of random numbers - maybe 25 or 100 at a go.
 
The user would quote one number for each new transaction, then tear
that number off and never use it again - a form of one time pad.
 
Even an unsophisticated user should be able to understand that
procedure.
