In a message dated 07-01-15, mark lewis said to Holger Granholm: Hi Mark, HG> It's not as easy as finding them on the keyboard just a keypress away. ml> kinda true... apparently many over in europe use them on a normal ml> basis... i don't recall if i specificed the method previously or not No you did'nt so I wondered what the "compose" key was. ml> "compose" key is generally marked as ALTgr... so they hold ALTgr and ml> then the first part of the sequence is hit... still holding ALTgr, Ah yes, we have the right Alt key marked Alt Gr and to make the micro sign I press Alt Gr+230 on the numerical keyboard. I have a shorthand above the keyboard that specifies the character codes for characters that are not available on the keyboard directly. ml> numberpad... from what i can find, the "compose" method is more ml> limited and restricted to alphabetical characters... you also have ml> to hit the characters in the proper order... And it doesn't work as such with other keyboard drivers. ml> example: ml> ALTgr+"+o works for o umlate ” ml> ALTgr+o+" does not work I tried that different ways, it didn't work with the keyboard driver I use for the scandinavian keyboard, ml> same for those letters with ^ ~ and ' above them... but those characters are in the CP437 table and by using the character codes they are avaiable with the Alt Gr method. HG> Those characters are also used in my BBS. All of them are not HG> available on CP850 but CP437 has a full set of them. ml> yeah, that's what i was trying to say... not having those character ml> glyphs available make things really ugly... especially mail stats ml> messages that may have bar graphs in them... I give my users the choice of Graphical or standard screen and consequently I have made two versions of each menu.
