I tried doing some timings, by using -es to make pkzip pack faster, but it
turned out that the time saved was less than the transmission time.

RS> One small wart is that the last 2 QWKs, both downloaded on Sunday, didnt

I've asked a question in the Maximus echo, and have a theoretical solution,
but I can't test it until Paul Markham comes back on Monday, so it isn't in
yet.

RS> And wot ave you done with AVT ? Cant see it at all.

Whoops! It was one of the first ones I had in, and I copied it x million
times to model all the other echos. Obviously it should have been x
million + 1 to leave the original!

RS> So things looks pretty reasonable OTW. Small step for mankind etc.

Except for the lousy 56% rate that you just had. I'll get on to Mike
Bourne tomorrow. That is quite disgusting. I am wondering if I switch of
error correction (*E0) whether that would help? Can't test this sort of
thing unless I can reproduce it with Paul Markham. It isn't consistently
bad, unfortunately. Very strange I've never noticed this before. Perhaps
it is because I rarely upload? BFN.
