I had something alike early this year. It was hard to get away with it.

What I had done was:

1. Saved a copy of the actual mozilla prefs.js file.

2. Created _A BRAND NEW_ mozilla profile (= a brand new prefs.js file too)

3. Logged in to Ebay, entered everything manually again, and then
everything worked fine.

4. Copied the meaningfull entries of the saved prefs.js file to the new
prefs.js file.

5. After the entire operation, the prefs.js file had shrinked from 58kb
to 36 kb

I think a left-over from the old Netscape prefs.js blocked/blocks the
proper update of the mozilla prefs.js file.

Good luck!
