EV> Yes a new standart from Rockwell , do you remember VFC :-(
EV> V34+ (33k6) was made by USR
V34+ was their implimentation of AT&T Paradyne's original work
which added the 1664-point constellation to the original
V34 28k8 line speeds
In UK, their current country specific 76AE Flash (file date
29 August 1995 :-) is soon to be replaced, so it's said.
Supra Dan had to do a workaround for their (deliberate IMO)
3429 symbol rate negotiation incompatibility
V.FC is still supported in Supras providing compatibility with
the earlier 24k and 28k8 protocol. It did provide those speeds
for nearly two years (and was first to them) whilst users
switched over to using V34 (or the bureaucrats argued about
"which" V34 :)
It's still useful for el cheepo modem users who may still
suffer from incompatibilities because their "here today, gone
tomorrow" modem maker hasn't updated their firmware :(
Others such as Motorola, ZyXel never supported V.FC
Zoom with ver1.600 and up ROM have just dumped V.FC
