probably something to do with encrypted passwords or not... my mandrake 7.x
boxen here would allow my W3FP40 boxen to connect but not the win98
boxen... i had to tweak the win98 boxen to allow plaintext passwords but i
don't like that option all that much...

it is time that i see about updating my *nix server box to something newer
and then see if my OS/2 and win98 boxen can still connect to it without
having to resort to plain text passwords...
