There's no requirement in Fidonet to be up 24 hours a day - just during
Zone Mail Hour, one hour during the night (Varies by location)

Old FidoBBS systems didn't support mailer operations 24 hours a day, so
they used one standard hour for all mail transfer. That one standard hour
is still the only requirement for mail transfer.

Get a copy of POLICY4, available on most BBSes, and remind your local net
if their local membership requirements are stricter than P4 - they CAN'T
be.
