Unless I'm mistaken, the recent postings of New Files announcements is in
contravention of the stated rules for this echo. The most recent rules
(from the August 2003 version of the ELIST archive) state:

FILEFIND
ALLFIX International FILEFIND Echo
This is the International ALLFIX FileFind Echo This echo
is here for the express purpose of allowing users with access
to ALLFIX or some other compatible FILEFIND program to send
a request over FidoNet to find certain files that they are
looking for. FILEFIND req. can be echomail in format. If
some general netmail replies are generated they should be
sent via routed NETMAIL. However since some of these type
of replies can be very larger that should generally be frowned
upon. This echo is here for the specific use of FILEFIND
requests. Not for file announcements or anything else of
that nature. AllFix is Copyrighted by Majik.Net and Dale

The correct echos for these type of announcements are potentially
ALLFIX_FILE, FIDO-REQ, HOUFILES and NCFILE. Note that there are some
restrictions applying to these areas as well, which may or may not apply to
a system's postings. Although I'm not the moderator of this echo, I am
asking that people try to follow the stated rules. If anyone wants to
discuss this further, I urge you to do it via netmail, and not propagate
this off-topic thread. Thanks.
Bob
