Incidentally,  is it possible that you are related to the social psychologist 
of the same family name (Bogardus) ?
 
When I was a little lad,  studying under New Zealand lecturers such as the 
younger Marie Clay,  Bogardus was one of those mythical workers who dwelt in 
marble halls in far-off America and wrote texts rather than papers....
