| subject: | Heat sink ! |
Hello, Roy, I am back in TI !
RJT> That CPU should come out with clips on each end that need to be
RJT> released.
The heat sink comes off with a release of the clips, the CPU
comes off with that side lever. The north side of the clips has a
recess for a screw-driver blade so it will not slip out and damage a
trace on the MoBo as one applies pressure to disengage the clips. I
hope that this is proper instructions now.
RJT> Once it's out it should be easier to see how the heatsink
RJT> needs to come off.
Can I suggest that the heat sink not be removed. It would be
easier to remove the fan only by undoing the four small screws that
hold it on the "finned radiator". Disturbing the dialectric used to
give a better BTU transfer from the CPU to the radiator, is not a
good thing unless one has some of that goo to replace on the CPU.
Sig: No new thinkpad yet.
The old one still working.
