The very last word I think is your problem. CS (Cable Select) sounds good in
theory,
however unless all drives are of the same type (revision) from the same
manufacturer
my experience is it doesn't work.

Always set a device to master or slave and group your devices together based
on their
interface speed. ie all ATA100 devices on one channel (one as master, the
other as
slave) and your ATA-33 devices on the second EIDE controller channel.

Windows often lets you get away with questionable mixes however data
corruption
can occur. OS/2 usually (correctly IMHO) simply spits the dummy.
